It's illegal for individuals to use fireworks in Portland. The Portland City Council enacted the permanent, year-round ban last March as hotter, drier summers increased the risk of fires. The sale and use of fireworks is prohibited in Tigard this July Fourth due to the red flag warning in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday. Tigard is within the current National Weather Service heat advisory, where risk of fires increases. Cities such as Milwaukie and Eugene also have citywide bans on fireworks. Vancouver banned fireworks in 2016.
