A 32-year-old Forest Grove man faces murder and other charges in the death of a man found early Saturday morning in a Tigard parking lot, police said. Tigard police said they have charged Yabets Ayele, 32, with murder II, attempting to elude and driving while suspended. A 911 caller reported that a man had been shot outside 13075 Southwest Pacific Highway shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday. When Tigard officers arrived at the scene, they found Nico Merritt, 27, suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, according to officials.
